Stone Island staged its first ever major US archival exhibit in LA coinciding with Frieze Los Angeles. The exhibit titled Selected Works ‘982 – 024’ expresses Stone Island’s belief in “Lab-Life” the concept of community working to align with production. The space will also offer a pop up shop experience along with a café in collaboration with various LA based local friends of the brand.
Selected Works ‘982-‘024 was presented at Buttercup Studios, Culver City and presented 42 archival pieces which were immortalized in the history of the storied brand. The concept of reflectivity was showcased in the 12 reflective jackets and Stone Island’s Pure Metal Shell Jackets along with rare prototype items that were on display.
Opening night saw a performance from Earl Sweatshirt and the premiere of Infinite Colours, a full length documentary by Ken-tonio Yamamoto which showcased the workers and the experimental processes which were implemented at the Stone Island HQ in Ravarino Italy. Jeremy Elkin’s short film The Compass Inside further explored the cult brands dialog between its international community.
