Icons are not born they are made; birth is a lesson that we confide in creating an eminence of ourselves and a prayer for the future. As the world starts to shatter and the community splits, it is important to bring people back together, stir the pot, and remind them all our blood is red, all our needs are the same, and all our wants are a personal vision of becoming aesthetes.

This iconic issue has been specifically complex with our editor-in-chief Jules Wood entering her motherhood and allowing the Reserved team to explore without explanation—a task of finding footing that is once subversive while in line with the foundations of the magazine.

The creative paths that have all led our contributors to merge in this project of Reserved as a book all share a similar struggle in finding meaning for the individual self, icons in our understanding.

It is our creations that drive the ultimate meaning of existence, with the strange path which our politics, economy, and overall state of the world have bent. We explore icons in the way in which beauty, symbolism, and vocal activism remain the only safe spaces to promote an urgent sense of practicing humanity.
