After artist and activist Nadya Tolokonnikova and John Caldwell were married on Jan. 12 at a courthouse in Los Angeles, Nathan Monk, who left the Russian Orthodox Church over its stance on gay marriage, led a short ceremony in their friend’s yard with a lit homemade cross.
The evening made for one of the coolest intimate affairs. With the wedding’s Gopnik dress code presenting a sea of black clad figures in Adidas tracksuits, a super cool sight to see on everyone.
Nadya made her own dress and added three stripes to John’s jacket, all up-cycled with the veil as well dressed with the logos, Nadya learned to sew in jail when she had to make police and military uniforms in a Russian prison.
Her talents used as a means of continuous outspoken protest as she practices in her life. Though she had mentioned to friends and in other interviews that she thought that this was never come in handy at all. But a perfect skill for her wedding day.
