Aptly tucked on Hudson Avenue— Hollywood Boulevard’s clandestine thoroughfare— the covert, converted Victorian that is No Vacancy celebrated the dual birthday and EP release of Huddy (FKA Chase Hudson), with the help of Passes.com on Tuesday night. The platform allows talent to connect with their fans directly, creating a space for brands to develop relationships and foster content creation moments with exclusive invitations to parties. Machine Gun Kelly, Siiickbrain, and Lance Bass partied up the scene. The raucous romp reveled the TikTokker-slash-musician-slash-actor in proper digs, theatrically staging the spooky bar as a playhouse reflecting Huddy’s darker inclinations (and stellar brand deals). An entire spherical room set off the stairs of the space was filled floor-to-ceiling with box-brand-new RayBans provided for partygoers, in the name of Huddy, rightfully ransacked within an hour of the evening’s commencement.
In lieu of what would serve as the implicitly haunted hotel’s bell desk, PIXI Cosmetics hosted a booth, abundantly stocked with pastel packaged toners, lending a softness otherwise indiscernible amongst the moody appointments (and guest garb). The invitation instructed a collection of animal print be worn, resulting in a charming menagerie of textures, spots, and stripes, shaded by overwhelmingly onyx tones, to contrast the lively and spirited congregation.
The EP for which the party was dually propped, “Love Bites”, released as the culmination of the celebration, anticipated with a constant, colossal countdown displayed above Gothic fireplaces throughout the event’s duration. Huddy’s genre, which may have been called emo-pop in the glory days of Fall Out Boy and side swept bangs, remixes the sentiment of 1987’s Lost Boys for the e-boy generation: kohl eyeliner, pierced and inked, dripping in leather and innuendo. With a single release akin to theTimes Square Ball Drop (should that drop occur in the stoned, lantern-lit courtyard of a historic home-turned-ghoulish speakeasy overlooking Hollywood Boulevard), and a candle-lit, to-be-wished-upon cake ushered out directly following the deliverance of his hit to hundreds of his closest friends and fans, Huddy rang in his fresh age in a manner worthy of the inaugural e-boy.
