For Spring/Summer 2023, Casablanca presented Futuro Optimisto, a collection that focused on Vaqueros, Phantastica, Nature + Architecture. Incorporating Oaxacan craftsmanship and conjuring romanticized rugged riding beauty explored the west coast lifestyle. Casablanca took a surrealistic take on the prairie chic embracing a psychedelic interpretation on the cowboy’s attire. The extension of nature was prevalent in the various textiles and which futurism incorporated a sense of meditative cosmic consciousness. These dreamy pieces were further works of Zeny Fuentes y Reyna a Oaxacan based artisan-led workshop which interpreted the hallucinatory animal imagery from Pedro Linares. With technologically embracing recycled threads in their outerwear, the collection was a fantastical way to guide the conversation of sustainability and worldly appreciation for indigenous crafts.
